Capoten is the branded patent registered prescription medication
manufactured and marketed by Bristol-Myers Squibb of the United
States. The drug belongs to the class of drugs called Angiotensin
Converting Enzyme – ACE Inhibitor which are designed to block the
enzyme system, leading the artery walls to loosen up and lower the
blood pressure in the blood vessels. This category of medication is
usually recommended or prescribed for treating the patients having
high blood pressure problems who sincerely wish to be able to
exercise rather normally.
As any other known medicine has some side effects, Capoten too is
not spared in spite of its considerable medicinal advantages. The
drug may poise certain common to serious types of side effects. Some
of the less serious side effects of this drug may include: most
common problem like dry and persistent coughing, headache,
constipation, lightheadedness, nausea, fainting, mild rash,
noticeable changes in sensing the tastes, pains in different joints
and diarrhoea. Experiencing such symptoms or conditions, the patient
should not give up taking Capoten at once and rush to the doctor as
such symptoms are reported to vanish automatically within a few days
only.
